Thank you to Civic Club 576 and President Vonda North for welcoming Courtney Richard and me to the Acres Home Multi-Service Center and giving us the opportunity to present our CD29 Leadership Series: Understanding the State Democratic Executive Committee.
One of the most important responsibilities of the SDEC Committeeman and Committeewoman is maintaining a strong connection between the communities we represent and the Democratic Party at the state level. That work requires more than attending meetings. It requires showing up in our neighborhoods, listening to residents, answering questions, sharing information, and making sure community voices are carried into the broader party conversation.
Our presentation focused on representation, leadership, service, and participation. We discussed how the State Democratic Executive Committee connects with county parties, precinct chairs, civic organizations, volunteers, and voters, and why every part of that network is stronger when we communicate and collaborate.
Community organizations such as Civic Club 576 play an important role in creating spaces where residents can learn, ask questions, exchange ideas, and become more involved. These conversations help strengthen civic participation and create relationships that can support voter registration, voter education, neighborhood engagement, and future leadership development.
Courtney and I are grateful for the thoughtful questions, participation, and hospitality we received in Acres Homes. We look forward to continuing the CD29 Leadership Series and bringing these conversations to more neighborhoods and organizations throughout Congressional District 29.
Strong communities are built through collaboration. When party leaders, precinct leaders, civic organizations, candidates, volunteers, and residents work together, we are better positioned to inform voters, increase participation, and advocate for the communities we serve.
